Why plan ahead? Getting involved early in the project pays dividends later. Determining layout and appearance is best resolved prior to framing. For example, a waterproofed deck with gutter can present difficulties (mounting details, post spacing, out-of-level guardrail, etc.). Tackling these issues in the planning phase usually results in better layouts, a nicer appearance and reliable waterproofing details.
What to avoid? Railings are only part of your project. Without properly sequenced and executed work among the trades, significant damage can occur. We review the work of others in our area to ensure we start off right. If its not correct, we wont begin our work until its fixed.
Solutions. Here’s a rendering with a sloped deck. This could represent what we might see when were called to provide a quote. The guardrail, as installed, has to work with the conditions.
Here’s a second rendering, but with input prior to construction. Note the changed deck slopes, modified gutter detail and nicer overall appearance. The construction costs are the same but the overall appearance is nicer.
